Mar 23rd, No Subject

This week was really good. The time is going so fast for me.

This week we had an activity of the branch. We had a talent show. It was really fun. Some youth showed some of their karate skills and other youth sang. A member wanted us to do something so my comp and I did something small. He played the charango and I sung something. It was really bad but I think the members liked it, mainly because it was really funny. A new family that we found went to the talent show. I think they liked it a lot. 

But like I said we found a new family this week. We had 2 lessons with them and things are going well with them. The biggest doubt that the father has is about the restoration. He doesnt like that it took almost 2000 years for the church to be restored. He has a loooot of question. I tried to answer most of his questions but just ended up teaching him moroni 10 and that the best thing to do is ask God.

Also we found our other investigator this week. Her mom has been really sick this week so she has been practically living in the hospital for the past week and a half. She didnt have time to have a lesson but we should have a lesson with her tomorrow.

Also this week I was able to go back to my old area. Carmen 3 and visit with the family guzman. I love that family so much. We ate a lot of food with them. It was a really good visit.

Mar 16th, Hospital!

This week we spent a lot of time in the hospital. Monday we went to the house to drop some things off to go and eat lunch. When we were leaving, my comp was shutting our glass door. He was shutting it really slowly and it just exploded. It cut his arm pretty badly and we went to the hospital really quickly. Luckily, there is a clinic in the corner of our house that we went to. He got 4 stitches in his arm and we are going to go back today to get them taken out. We also went to the hospital for my arm. Thing have gotten a lot better with my arm. All the worms have died, which is good. This week we also had a multi zone conference. It was really cool. It was about how we can develop gifts of the spirit, mainly the gift of tongues. They also told us that a 70 was going to come to the mission so im really excited for that. We are also working a lot with a member, Hermano Domingo, to go on all of our visits with our investigators. Thanks to him we could have a lot of lessons this week and help a lot of our investigatores. We also had a really good investigator but she just disappeared one day. Her family told us that she was going to the fields to work but she has returned yet. We were going to put a date for her baptism but because she has been gone we couldnt. We also have another baptism planned in 2 weeks for 2 kid, alex and luis. We have been really busy this week. Thats about all that happened this week, love you guys. Elder Britt Also where we eat lunch found a turtle. she told us that we were going to eat turtle soup. I think she was serious. Also I tried picking up the parrot and it bit me. I just wanted to hold it.

Mar 9th, No Subject

This week was really good!

We have seen a lot of progress in El Torno in just 3 weeks. Now that there are 4 Elder in el torno. Yesterday 75 members went to church. Before it was only about 30 or 40. Hopefully we can keep this area progressing.

We had a lot of family home evening with members this week. We are trying really hard to get permission from the father of one of our investigators. What we are trying to do is help her share stuff, such as scriptures or her desires to be baptized, wiht her father and hopefully with that he will let her get baptized. He doesnt really want to talk to us. He told her that he doesnt want her to get baptized because he hasnt seen a big change in her and because of that he doesnt want her to get baptized.

We also have another really good investigator that we started teaching last week. She lives really far from the chapel so we ride a moto taxi to her house and then let her use the same moto taxi to go to the church. She told us that she really likes the church and likes listening to use. We invited her to be baptized and she told us that she would think about it. We visited her Friday night and asked her to pray about it. She said she would and we are going to see how her prayer went tonight.

Also yesterday we were meeting with 2 kids trying to teach them about faith. My comp tried to use an example about how when you go to the fridge, you hope that youre going to find food and how its the same with faith, or something like that, I dont really understand what he was trying to say. But then I asked one of the kids, what is faith. He told us, well, faith is when Im hungry and go to the fridge to get food and if there is no food, my mom will make me something. It was really funny. We died laughing in the lesson.

Also this week I went to the hospital because I had a weird rash thing on my arm. When the doctor looked at it he told other doctors to come and look at it. I could hear them saying, oh I havent seen that in a long time, thats really weird. They told me that I had worms growing in my arm. The good thing is I only have to use a cream and they will go away. So thats exciting!

Mar 2nd, No Subject

The time out here is going sooo fast. I feel like I was just writing yesterday.

This week was really good. We had 5 investigatores that went to church yesterday. All of them had a really good experiences. A lot of them were people that we didnt visit that week, they just went to church because they wanted to, which is really good. 

This week we found a new investigator. She lives in the corner of our house. She had a lot of questions for us and is really interested in the church. We have talked to her a lot but have never thought to share the gospel with her. She has a lot of potential.

This week we are going to dedicate 2-3 hours every day to contact. I hope we can get some new investigatores from that because this area doesnt have that much.

Last week we didnt have an activity so the my comp and the other Elder of El Torno went and explored a mountain. We could see all of el torno, it was really cool

Feb 23rd, More Elders!

On Wednesday we recieved more elders in el torno. Our area is sooo big. You can take a bus for 1 hour and 30 minutes and still be in our area. They are going to help us out soo much! Now we have only half of the area we had before. 

Yesterday we had a really cool experience. Yesterday at about 4 the assistants (I cant remember how to spell that anymore) and they told us that we need to call president. We called him and he told us he wanted to come with us to all of our visit from 4 until 6. It was a really awesome. He helped us out A LOT. We have a lot of people that have had some really big problems and he was able to help them out a lot. We visited one person who was really sad because she was ready to be baptized but she legally has 2 husband and cant divorce her other husband because she doesnt have money. He was able to help her out so much, it was really cool. We also visited a recent convert that recent found out she had cancer. She has been really depressed and he was able to help her out a lot. I learned a lot from yesterday.

That was about all that happened this week though. We were stuck in the house until wednesday. I was able to read all of the book of mormon in spanish in 3 days though. It was a good experience. I also grew an awesome mustache during those 3 days. We also made tacos. When we were buying food I just thought, how would my mom make them and bought some stuff and made it. They tasted really good and Im surprised I didnt get sick.

Also that is a picture of our chapel. Its really small. Its just a room on the second floor of a building. 35 people went to church yesterday and in priesthood it was 4 elders and 4 members. We have a lot of work to do here. Also thats the clock in the church. Its a picture of a Nicolas Cage movie. I thought it was really funny.

Also the picture of the mountain the the background is Angostura. Its about 40 minutes from our house but its really beautiful there.

Feb 14th, Cambios and Carnaval!

These week I got transfered!

Right now Im serving in El Torno, or Al Torno, Im not sure which one it is. Im still in the same zone of la guardia. Im serving with Elder Gonzalez. He was in the same district before. This cambio he finished his training so Im his second companion in the field. He only has 3 months out here. He is from Santiago, Chile. Hes really cool and Im going to spend the next 4 days with him stuck in the house so we are going to get to know each other really well. El torno is a really cool zone. Im in the area that is the closest to cochabamba. Theres actually mountains there which I like a lot. Its a really cool area. Starting out in a new area is really hard though. Every person is so sad when they see me. They all say, I miss elder olson so much. Its rought sometimes. 

Also we basically arent going to work at all this week. It is carnaval and everybody is going to be drunk and throwing paint at each other. We arent allow to leave to do anything. We arent even allowed to go to church tomorrow. We have to read all of the book of mormon so that going to be fun.

This zone, a lot of people are really close to baptism but they have other problems. One of them is Dayana. Shes 15 but she doesnt have permission to be batpized. Her father wont let her but her mother is completely fine with it. Hopefully Ill be able to help them out. Also is another joven, I cant remember a good word for that, young man or teenager that is 16 years old. He says he wants to get baptized but just wants to know more. Hes a really good investigator. We also have another recent convert that we are going to need to help a lot. We visited them last night and the father was drunk. It was really sad. Their marriage is pretty close to divorce. I still dont know the area and all the people yet. Im going to start learning a lot more Wednesday when we can work. 

Thats was about all that happened this week though. It was a pretty big week and a big change. But the favorite thing about my house in El Torno is that we actually have air conditioning. I havent felt an air conditioned room in 7 months. It is soooo nice. It really expensive to use so we only use it for 1 hour at night after we plan for the next day. It is so nice. Also, the person who makes us lunch and dinner cooks really well. She made us crepes last night.

Also yesterday I was stung in the neck by a wasp. I called Sister Zambrano and she told me I had to go to the hospital so that was fun. 

Feb 9th, No Subject

This week we had a really cool experience with Silvio.

He hasnt been able to work for a long time because he crashed on his moto and cant work. Money has been really hard for him and hasnt had a lot. He had a debt with a bank and he decided to pay it. The only thing is, he didnt have enough money to buy food after that. When he got back to his house after paying the bank he and his wife decided to pray for help. 30 minutes later he recieved a call from his friend telling him that he had some money to give him because he lended him some money a long time back. He had completely forgotten about it. The Lord really answered his prayer. He was able to get the money from his friend and have money to buy food for his family. He has been progressing a lot and is almost ready for baptism. 

That was a really good experience for us.

Also this week I learned how to make empanadas. It was really fun. Also I showed up to a house and that guy told me, I really like your tie, want to trade. So I traded ties with him, it was really funny.
